The Child Place for Children with Special Needs at Brooklyn Public Library

The Children’s Place Program makes library programs and services accessible to those who might otherwise have a difficult time accessing them, including children who are Deaf. We have two staff members who sign, one of whom is bilingual in ASL and British Sign Language. With advance notice, we can provide ASL interpretation for the Child’s Place for Children with Special Needs programs. Periodically, our Saturday programs are bi-lingual in ASL and English. We also have information on child development and Deaf children for adults and information about deafness and the Deaf community for children. ASL instructional material including video tapes, books and dictionaries are also available.
