BILS provides all services for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing in areas of advocacy, appeals & hearings (court), disability rights, rights to interpreter services, Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), benefit entitlement, Social Security benefits, food stamps, Medicaid/Medicare, public assistance, housing assistance, tenant’s rights, housing applications, Section 8/NYCHA, MTA Reduced-Fare Metrocard, Verizon -50% Discounted, HEAP/Jiggetts, rights to individual services, ACS related to domesticviolence, legal resources, accompaniment to police and courthouses, crisis intervention, emergency assistance, Crime Victims Board for compensation, referrals to emergency services for food and shelter, individual counseling (for crime victims), information & referral, on-going support, crime victims support group, peer counseling, & more.
