The Peer Initiative/Deaf AIDS Services Project operates through a contract with the NYS DOH AIDS Institute and coordinates peer outreach, education, and related services for deaf and hard-of-hearing clients for an average of 500 people each month. The program is based in Lower Manhattan. Free HIV testing with pre-post test counseling for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community is available. No blood or needle is involved. Free- No Cost Services provided in ASL or with a qualified sign language interpreter. Your preference and your confidentiality will be respected. Free Safer Sex Kits. Housing Works is a minority-controlled, community-based, not-for-profit corporation providing housing, health care, advocacy, job training, and vital supportive services to homeless New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS.
